Establishment of the Regional Information Center for Science and Technology in Iran

The president of Regional Information Center for Science and Technology (RICeST) said: Regional Library of Science and Technology (RLST) was renamed as “Regional Information Center for Science and Technology” by the approval issued by the Council of Higher Education Development, Ministry of Science, Research and Technology.

Dr. Jafar Mehrad said: with regard to global changes in information services and scientific fields and also the necessity for keeping pace with information technologies, renaming RLST as “RICeST” was proposed to the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology in 2006.

He added: This suggestion was discussed in the meetings of Vice Minister for Research Affairs of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology and finally Council of Higher Education Development issued its agreement with the matter. This approval has already been signed by Vice Minister for Education of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology.
