The British National Bibliography (BNB)

The British National Bibliography (BNB) contains the catalogue records of books and the first issues of serials, published from 1950 to date in the United Kingdom and Ireland, which have been received under the requirements for legal deposit.

Originally created by the British National Bibliography Limited, they have been the responsibility of the British Library since its inception in 1974. Since 1990, records have also been contributed by all the legal deposit libraries of the UK while records for forthcoming titles are currently provided by Bibliographic Data Services.

The records are created in accordance with international cataloguing standards and cover items in all subject areas and for all age ranges, both fiction and non-fiction.
