Educational Resources Information Center (ERIC)
The ERIC (Educational Resources Information Center) database, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education, is a bibliographic database that contains education-related documents and journal articles. Information in ERIC corresponds to two printed abstract/index journals: Resources in Education (RIE) and Current Index to Journals in Education (CIJE). RIE announces some 14,000 documents each year, and CIJE announces some 20,000 journal articles, extracted from more than 750 serials.
The RIE subfile includes records of many different types of documents: research/technical reports, conference papers, conference proceedings, program descriptions, opinion papers, bibliographies, state-of-the-art reviews, legal/legislative/regulatory materials, dissertations, classification schemes, teaching guides, curriculum materials, lesson plans, course descriptions, pamphlets, guides, and many other "fugitive" materials.
The ERIC Document Reproduction Service (EDRS) makes available most of the documents announced in RIE in reproduced paper copy and/or microfiche.
