The Charter of the Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC)

President of the Regional Information Center for Science and Technology referring to the compilation of the charter of the Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC) announced that on the basis of this charter, the Steering Council of ISC will take the responsibility of leading and supporting several fields of science and technology and programming for the evaluation of citations in scientific publications of the Islamic world.

Dr. Jafar Mehrad affirmed that according to this charter, creating opportunities and enhancing the spirit of innovation in local sciences especially in the field of Humanities -in accordance with Islamic values- for the purpose of paving the suitable way for the extension of knowledge, developing science assessment and  making wise policies in  scientific and technological fields in the Islamic countries and also creating right opportunities for proper interactions with other scientists of the Islamic world are the main goals of this center.

Secretary of ISC Steering Council pointing out to the expansion of the range of activities in the field of science and technology assessment in Iran and other Islamic countries, stated that for this purpose, a Steering Council has been determined in the charter of ISC to be headed by the respectable Minister of Science, Research and Technology, I.R. of Iran who with the cooperation of 17 other members will make the policies for the properly leading and supporting several fields of science and technology and plan for the evaluation of citations in scientific productions of the Islamic world.

Dr. Mehrad expressing the approval of ISC by the Ministers of Higher Education and Research of  the Islamic countries, said that in order to carrying out the citation analysis in the Islamic world, a committee entitled ISC Executive Committee has been anticipated in the charter with duties such as making policies and compiling scientific programs for promoting the goals of the Islamic world Science Citation Center in each one of the region countries as well as  expanding the center as the instrument of managing science for the citation analysis and evaluating the status of research in the region countries.
